Default Race fuel..

Has anyone ever tried any of this or similar in an S? My mate has got some left over from an F3 race at the weekend down at Silverstone and says i should stick 3 or 4 litres in to give it a try! He's putting some in his Esprit V8 and says its should be noticeable.. What do people think? Only getting a small amount but thought it'd be interesing to see if theres any difference.

I doubt it will make any real difference - the ECU isn't equipped to be able to take advantage of the extra octane content.

..and it may take a while for your ECU to adjust to the higher octane by which time you could have burned through all your fuel.

Give it a try though by all means and let us know what happens

You would need a remap to take advantage over 97 RON, I reckon.

But the S must be set up to run on the 98/99 that it recommends you use inside the filler flap?

If you've got a JDM, do it, otherwise it's not worth while.

sorry it is 98, basically over 98 the ECU wont be able to interpret the improved octane rating of the fuel. So you can pile expensive 103 RON in but without a Remap to 103 RON the ECU will treat it the same as 98, you'll just be 50-60p a litre worse off.
