Default Which radar detector......?

Folks,

I know I'm being idle here, but knowing how the search facility works, I can't face wrestling with it right at the moment.

My brother got an NIP in the post on Saturday - 92 in a 60 zone on the way back to the Midlands from Aberystwyth. Apparently, the place he was done is well known to locals - he mentioned to a couple of mates who live there that he had been done, and they knew where it was before he even mentioned it.

I've told him that the best he can hope for is to throw himself on the mercy of the court, explain that a ban will cost him his job most likely, appear very contrite and ask them whether they would consider imposing 6 points and/or a fine in lieu of a ban, since that would put him on 9 points and any subsequent offence would mean losing his licence for 6 months as a result of totting up.

Not surprisingly, he now wants to consider getting some ESM protection. He's decided he wants a radar detector rather than a GPS based system (since most of his miles are in areas where he knows the location of fixed sites). I don't know too much about the relative merits of the various radar detectors on the market. Can someone give me a brief recommendation of what's good for what? I've got a Valentine One which I've found to be excellent, but he doesn't necessarily want to spend

Mark,

I can only speak for mine:
I have to say that the Snooper SD715is has been good at picking up gatsos....assuming the ones it doesn't have been inactive.
It suffers from high/inappropriate sensitivity in built-up areas as do they all.
But for the prices that have been available on this board....it's worth a try?

Haven't yet been able to test on hand-held devices though

HTH

Cheers, San. Keep 'em coming, folks.......

And Rich, exactly. He was overtaking a crawler who had been blocking his way for ages - and just happened to pick precisely the wrong time to do it

Cheers AE - I didn't even know that such a table existed. Since I'm all radar-ed up, I haven't bothered to follow the previous threads.

Any personal views on different units still welcome though.

Sorry to hear that Rich got caught like this. Bad news.

I've got the Euro 550. It works well and is useful. I have to say though that the Road Angel is more valuable. All the alerts are
useful.
