Hi Guys,

Looking a getting back into the club, sold my 07 S2K and in reflection after a CRZ and also a Civic feeling I need to get another S2000. Looking at buying an 09 car and not really worried about the scare stories.

A little confused at the current costs as Parkers say top whack for a 09 car is under 14k but many online at around 15/16k mark is their any down side if it an import or UK model as long as it's covered by a Honda extended warranty ?

My advice; buy a cherished older car.

Parkers list an 09 car at £12,300, private sale. Just remember to factor in the cost of a new engine.

Avoid an 08 or 09 like the plague with their engine problems! Get an 05 or 55 thats been looked after would be my advice. You get the facelift exterior and interior as well as cheaper road tax than the 06+ cars, as well as the nicest wheels and the engine revisions so the car uses less oil than the earlier models.

LOL, I read somewhere that in relation to the number of S2000's sold the actual number that had engine problems was able 3% so don't think its anything major unless someone can tell me other wise. Was it just the 09 cars or did this issue affect the 08 cars.

Yeah personally I thought the 07 had the nicest rims, but my 07 car was bullet proof for the 15k it had done before got rid, best car ever owned. Are the 09 cars really that bad ????????????

No, they aren't but you may or may not be lucky/unlucky. You certainly need an extended warranty.

This thread is certainly worth a read. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/876...for-09-owners/

Yep - 08 and 09 cars seem to lunch their engines anywhere from 15k upwards and Honda UK are not prepared to recognise there is a problem.

I think 30 pages should be enough to convince you and if not then good luck

Otherwise do a search on here and just type '09 engine' as the search term to see what comes up.

The issue did not affect all 08/09 cars but I'd guess the issue affects substantially more than the 3% of cars you quote for 09 registered cars.

You might be fortunate, you may not.

The information is available on this forum, should you choose to use it.

Your money. Your choice.
