Default Ready for ECU Mapping

The rain stayed off long enough yesterday for me to change the manifold and cat on the S2k, which was fortunate as I'm booked in for the remap this Friday!

MY00 now has an AEM CAI, Tegiwa Manifold, Spoon Decat and Toda twin tail cat back. Have an AEM EMS v2 in the boot to be plugged in and mapped at TDi North. Really looking forward to the results, not looking forward to driving it until its mapped though - no Vtec!

The manifold went on really easily, had to take the studs out of the block to get it on but used the '2 nut' technique to do it and managed not to snap any thankfully!

Couple of pics of the mani after install, there's a huge weight difference between the stock system and what's on it now - the stock one is so heavy!

I've put the heatshield back in place after taking these pictures to protect the brake fluid reservoir area.

Not much clearance between the manifold and steering rod is there?

Pretty sure there was more than the picture seems to show...?! I'll have another look later, just taken it for a 20 mile drive to make sure no issues/blowing etc and seems fine. Will have a look for any marks on the steering rod and mani.

Tegiwa mani looks good! I have a J's awaiting fitting haha.. Why can't you drive in vtec in its current state?

It'll be running lean at the minute mate, lots of nice cold air in, less restrictive exhaust so the gases leave much quicker, but the stock ecu won't be able to adjust the fuelling sufficiently to match. Drive it steady for now or I could do some damage to the engine. It's not my daily drive so won't be too bad.

The Tegiwa is meant to be a copy of the J's from what I've read up on it, couldn't justify paying for a new j's and just missed out on one on here!

You should download the AEM Tuner software and upload the basemap that comes with the software. It will save you a massive amount of time on the rollers!

Ha that was the answer I expected just wasn't sure if there was some underlying issue. Indeed the Tegiwa one is a copy of the J's, I was struggling to decide which to go for but one came up used on here so grabbed it, sounds like we were going for the same one!!! I too need to go for mapping as will have full basic breathing mods once manifold is fitted. I live up in the north of Scotland so there aren't too many places around, think it'll probably be a long drive south..

Thought about putting the Ecu in Toms but TDi advised not to, they're going to be mapping it from scratch so I'm not fussed how long it takes them as I know it'll be done right.

Eddie it's quite likely the same mani I was thinking of buying, i bought the ecu off the same seller! Not too sure of any other mappers up your way, I had an Evo mapped by 'the dentist' from Scotland but that was some time ago now!

No it won't.

And when you look at the AFR graph the bit where it does nip into the low 14s is below 6krpm and the usual VTEC transition period anyway.

As for TDi North....

Your car will make over 260bhp (HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!) and they think that independent suspension with an Anti Roll Bar is exactly the same as a beam axle.

F ucking clown shoes.

I wouldn't ask them to rewire a plug on a food blender (it'd make 127bhp on their dyno though).

Go to EFI parts instead. Cost you less and does a better job.
