Default Rear-ended by a Fedex Van

Just had the unfortunate experience of being rear-ended at the entrance to my work carpark by a Fedex van.

Fortunately, I saw & heard the van driver lock up his wheels, so I was able to accelerate away from most of the impact .

The damage is to the boot lid (needs replacing), boot badge (needs replacing), boot light (needs replacing), rear spoiler (needs replacing/repainting), and number plate surround (needs replacing). I have taken it to the local Honda bodyshop for an estimate.

I have the name of a witness, the driver admitted liability a few times, photos of there 14metre skid, and car damage, a collegue who heard the driver admit liability etc. Also, the local Fedex depot manager came by, and handed me his card.

I'll report the accident tomorrow at my local police station.

Any advice (I've never been involved in an accident before) - should I contact my insurance company / contact the depot manager & get their insurance details - etc ? What next ?

EDIT: Plus, I think that I might have some whiplash.

When it happened to me, I reported it to my own insurance company (mainly cos the old git who hit me said he was going to tell his insurer that it was my fault because I braked too hard ) and they sorted out the repairs. After a bit of a squabble when the other guy's company initially admitted liability and then tried to withdraw that admission, they eventually coughed to it and reimbursed my insurer - net result was no impact on my NCB.

Hope it gets sorted quickly, Chris.

Straight away Chris. Contact your Insurance Company, it is they who deal with this not you. Sit back and await the return of your car.

Do it NOW!!!

PS Bad luck, hope it is all a walk in the park. Don't put up with any bullshit form either side, thats why we all have Insuance.

Chris just ring the insurance company and leave it with them.

You'll probably need to give them a nudge now and then to shimmy them along as they can drag their heals.

With it being a fleet van that went into you hopefully things will get done a bit quicker

Don't know what you have to do with the whiplash-ask the insurance company what you should do-go to the hospital? (doubt it), go to your local GP?

Chris, tough luck mate. From your description of the events you have NO problems at all.

They'll admit liabilty without issue - how can they not? The evidence is massive.

It'll be sweet.

Just contacted Frizzell - they've said that there's no reason to report this to the police. Their repairers will be contacting me tomorrow. What a PITA
