Default Rear light out intermittently.

Afternoon all,

My drivers side rear light seems to be faulty but only intermittently. I think there may be a loose wire somewhere. The brake light is fine.

I believe a dealer may have f**** this up when going behind the dash to solve another problem I had last year when the car wouldn't start. They said there was a broken wire to the starter motor and fixed it.

The reason I believe this is a dealer fudge is because I noticed recently while driving at night that some of the dash button lights (Mute button, Audio button on drivers side) are not working! On further inspection I have found that they have not correctly fixed the dash console back on as there is a slight gap (just below the start button where the Dash faceplate fixes to the dash back piece/mount)

I went out last night to find that the rear light was not working (only on the drivers side). went for a five minute drive and returned home to find that the light is now fully functional. It has done this once before as far as I can tell over Christmas.

Anyone got any wiring diagrams? I really can't be arsed to go the stealers and listen to more verbal diarrhea.

Thanks for reading my boring post. I am not a chav spelling newbie, just an infrequently posting guest who does try to post useful answers to things I have experienced since my 3.5 years of ownership.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thought you'd buggered off & bought a TT!

I'd check the obvious (loose/corroded/knackered blub?) before ripping into the sparks.

You need to know when it does/doesn't work - like Fords, where braking earths the light clusters via the pedal switch & it goes up like an Xmas tree?

Hi there!

I'll check the bulb again, I think I saw some corrosion on the contacts.

It doesn't light up when braking (checked when stationary)

The only button I touched was the rear window demister, I'll check that again too.

I've been firmly planted on the black stuff for quite a while now and have calmed my hasty last minute direction changes when ones foot is planted on the fast pedal. The new engine is bedding in fine, new discs and brakes are great, just starting to worry about all the other bits now (exhaust and suspension being a concern recently, think I may need to replace or repair soon.).

; )
