Default Rear Number plate panel

Seem to have a load of stones trrapped behind the panel holding the rear number plate. I managed to force it out slightly at the bottom and loads of little stones fell out but now some are trapped between this panel and the bumper bit. I've found a little screw at the top between the number plate lights and removed this-I even managed to get the top out but then got stuck and chickened out. Anyone know the secret?

Sorry don't really know , all I do know is when I bought mine the bottom of the number plate panel was already loose so I took it to the stealer. And from the mess they left round the no. plate panel I would say they glued it down.

There are series of screws from the back you have to remove.

OK. Thats makes things easy! Was fitting a new number plate with GB badge so was going to do it at the same time. Will give it a clean and leave alone. Thanks for the replies.

I thought I was the only one. The stones seem to have been there from the first time I washed the car when it was just a few days old. I can't see how they get into the void in the first place.

Post some pics of the removal process for the plate surround if you can?

Happens with mine too - its a feature

All I do is tap the bumper with the heal of my hand and "bump" them out. Do this most times I wash the car.

go for it!

I guess its all the shrapnel being thrown up by the rear tyres sitting on a ledge in the moulding of the rear bumper.

It'll ruin the 50/50 weight distibution!

Don't try to bend the number plate holder though as it only gets worse and leave a big gaping hole behind. No need to empty it because as it has been mentioned it will only fill up again. It is however good to weight the rear down when the S finds our type of diesel ™.
