Default Refitting the hard top - any problems

In a fit of optimism I took the hard top off for the first time Saturday, it took a bit of jiggling, but eventually it popped off. Now I want to put it back on, but it doesn't fit! If I locate one of the spikes in the holes parallel with the headrests, the other side has to be pushed (towards the centre of the car) quite hard to get it to go in it's hole. Then the front clips will work on one side, but not be close enough to catch on the other.

I now have a roof in my dining room!

Before I go and make Mr Honda come out to my house to refit the bleedin' thing, has anyone else experienced a problem like this..?

I just took mine off/put in on about 3 times this past week (long story....) and never had problems. I don't think it should be so tight. Take it back to the dealer who installed it and have them adjust it. Do a search on hard top adjustments or something like that - I remember seeing a post about adjusting it within the last week or so...

Check on the HondA site and they have install instructions. There is a section toward the end of the install that gives specs on fitment.

I did my install myself and the thing fits great...
it is all where they "located" the hardware in the car itself... Some movement is allowed but with a three bolt pattern, it is not much more than a minor adjustment.
If anyone (high speed access) wants photo's of the entire install, I can send them...

I bought a hardtop stand and cover from my local BMW dealer (designed for the Z3) - checkout http://www.ireallywanna.com/hardtop/hardtop.htm for pics

There was a little spring in my hard top when it was refitted last year, but nothing as bad as your describing. Ended up with one person on each sie by the spike, just pressing in a little, then it popped on. You are doing the clips in the right order - it's a tight fit, so won't go if you do them the wrong way round. It's in the hard top manual.

You may already know this. I have a hoist system that I use to lift the top off the car and suspend it from the garage ceiling above the car. Then the garage door just opens up under the top. When it's "stored", I throw a flannel bed sheet over it to keep the dust off it.
