I thought it was better on newer models - perhaps the 04 onwards?

Anyway, unless you have a 3rd button for it on your fob then it's completely random

Mine works fine, every time

The random boot release is one of features you pay extra for when you buy a UK car.

Try this.

unlock it
lock it
wait till it all stops flashing
press unlock once
AS SOON as the indicators go out press and hold unlock again ... and the boot should open.

My MY03 has it, but as GSi has already mentioned it's a little temperamental. If you lock and unlock the car in a short period of time then it seems to be worse, but if the car has been locked for sometime should be fine.

Would anyone be able to explain why my car has 2x 2 button keyfobs each with a normal key and 1x 3 button keyfob with the valet key attached to it. Strange...

This is the OEM keyfob. The boot opening button on this will work every time.

The remote boot release works perfectly on mine, but then again, I don't have an alarm.....

Just hold down that 3rd button...
