Default Remote control range

Is it just my remote control that has a range of about 2 feet from the car? I know there has been a lot of threads on the 2nd 'open boot' press and whether it works or not, but with mine, I'm stood next to the car anyway, so just use the key.

Nope, not just you, Eric - mine seems to work only within a few feet of the car too.

I was beginning to wonder whether the battery might need changing after 16 months of use........

Brand new car and the range is crappy. Have to be on top of the car to disarm.

Well I can see I'm in a minority

The car opens and locks at a range of at least 3 car lengths. The remote battery is about 4 months old. The car is an '02MY.

Have you tried pressing the button really hard

Mine works at >4 car lengths. Its a pre-owned 00, I would have to guess that the battery has been changed in the past.

That remote is one of the crappiest and most annoying things about the car - have recently replaced my battery, and sometimes it struggles if I'm standing by the boot

And as for the boot opening

If one of the aftermarket companies could produce a decent remote, with a decent range, and a separate, RELIABLE button for the boot opening, they would make a bloody fortune!

Come on someone, please make a decent remote

I find it depends upon which angle I'm facing the car. From the rear three-quarter angle it sometimes doesn't work at all. Other times, notably when approaching from the front, it seems to work from over 10 feet away. Funny that. The receiver on the car must be in some sort of half open lead box.

On the other hand, my mother's Fabia's remote works flawlessly from any angle from over 10 metres away. In a car that cost 30% what the S cost, go figure...
