nope not as far as I am aware. I have the workshop manual for the US models and they definately show you its in the passenger footwell which is the opposite side to where mine was. I know this because I thought the same as you at first and followed that instruction only to find it wasnt there. It'll take you 5 minutes to check anyway. Clipping the panels on and off to have a peak is easy...

this is interesting.

i think that AP1/AP2 thing also adds to the confusion.
at US AP1 cars OBD2 socket is on the right side , on AP2 it moved to the left side.
in my 2007 the socket is still on the right side.....

unlike mine AP2 looks but still AP1 coded yours is pure AP1.
so where is your OBD socket?
if it's on the left side - then it will be another proof that on the RHD electronics locations are "mirrored".

In the passenger footwell, so yes, left hand side.

Holy thread revival batman!

I have located my ECU and want to remove it, as far as I can tell there are two bolts connecting it to the car at the bottom, both appear to be 10mm hex bolts. Where are these tribolts located, or have mine been ditched for real bolts.

This is what all the bolts looked like on my car. Sounds like they have already been removed on your car.

Yep that's the ECU. I'm sure they didn't bother with those security bolts on the early cars. Make sure you disconnect the battery for unplugging it. I didn't can got a check engine light which I had to clear
