Thumbs up replacement door speakers

Guys I have tried the search but it ain't working.

I am looking simply to replace the original speakers in the doors of my S. I want something better than I have now and wondered what the preferred choice was.

I would like to keep the alterations to the trim/ speaker buckets to a minimum. Shall we say a budget of <

you will need to build spacers, regardless of the speakers you choose if the 05 is anything like the 01.

On the basis you are prepared to do that then almost anything is go. Obviously the narrower / less deep the better for fitting but your spaces will give you space to play with.

I'm a new fan of Infinity, using them for my doors and rear panels so maybe look at them.

Instructions if it helps: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=319637

Finding space for the crossover doesnt appear too bad - Mikey probably has the pic in his gallery of the insides of his doors showing where he mounted his.

I have just installed an Alpine HU and what a difference! When I first fired it up it it sounded good, but after fine tuning the Alpine's 'Base Engine' tone controls to the speakers it sounds just great. In the end I went for:Bass +2 @ 100 and +3 @17.5K. This to my ear seems to suit the standard speakers.

Now, if they can sound so good what would some decent speakers sound like?

Thanks for the forum advice about the Incartec adapter which works a treat.

Just looking at the depth problem, 2" or 50mm, Infinity 6512Si would seem to fit at about

6512si's fit fine as per my link above but you would still need a spacer AND you would be wanting components.

Sounds like the 6010CS would be ideal but remember these are deeper than the SI's S=Shallow. Otherwise if you are happy to go slightly smaller but with plenty of OOUMPH and loads of cash left in your wallet then look at the 5000CS. I have these in my rear panels and confirm are very very similar to the description for the REF6010CS. Probably identical but smaller.

They are more powerful than the 6512si's so I have the fade +4 towards the front.

If you want to go with the 5000's then Halfords have em on offer

Not true any more!

Autoleads make 6.5" 14mm adapter that works just fine!
Pic below for good measure - show cross over as well.

My set up is in my signature

...While we are on the speaker subject,

I have an 2001, with stock speakers at present. Id like a tweeter set up but us 'older' S drivers dont have the pod in the door,

Whats the bets way to remedy this? Can you get the tweeter pods and stick em on?

Thanks!!
