Default Replacement horns

I have got to do this, driving in London means that the horn gets used more often than I would like and its just too pathetic. So, the question is this, who has fitted aftermarket horns and what di you fit??

I am not sure if I want the bother of fitting airhorns - looks a bit of a pain, so has anyone just fitted electric versions and if so from where??

Ta very much

Ross

Ross,
I just installed the "Hella Twin Supertone" electric horns.
They are definately louder than stock. Installation was fairly easy too.

Here's a photo!
They're larger than they appear. Aproximately 4" (10 cm) diameter.

I could not believe the pathetic noise from the standard horns .

Changed mine for a standard set of twin tones , much better and if as in my case the new horns only require fusing @ 10amps , bingo no need for relays , just fit to the standard wiring

P.S I think the ones I aquired from a local car spares place were Hellar , about

I fitted dual electric ones to start with which I got from Halfords. They were O.K. but I changed them for Triple air horns from Motormania.

My local Honda dealer said they thought that one of the Rover range had a good electric horn. But I guess to find that out, you'd have to go to a Rover showroom and try the horn on each car. Could be fun!

Incidentally, replacing that "fairy's fart" was the very first 'mod' on my S2000. I went the Halfords air-horn route and am delighted with them

I followed Pete's lead and got a set of Ring branded FIAMM air horns from Halfords:

I just couldn't bear the stock POS any longer... the new one is quite musical and very Italian

Err... Tif you've installed the horns incorrectly. The're supposed to be near horizontal with the trumpet end down slightly. You might have problems with the horns getting contaminated, and stopping working - one of the US Greg's has a thread in 'Under the Hood' about how he's gone through several sets of horns (the original compressor's still fine) due to this.
