I never understood why people have a number plate stating the car model, on that car model? Same goes for people who get their own name tattooed on themselves.

Because it would be stoopid to put it on a different model. Same as it would be stoopid if I had the name Horatio tattooed onto myself. (I'm not called Horatio, BTW).
