Default Rev Limiter...

Before any one ask's I have searched the forum but haven't really found trhe answer I was looking for.

As I was driving into work today down the A38 to Derby, I was sat behind a lorry overtaking another at about 60, you know the way the story goes anyway as I was waiting for the lorry to bugger off a Porsche Boxster S pulled up behind me (I know it was a Boxster S because I remeber seeing his number plate b4) as the lorry pulls in to let the 3 miles of tailing traffic past, I was at the front of the que so I drop her down into 3rd and off we go strait into VTEC, unfortunately I was to busy watching my rear view mirror than watching the rev counter. Then all of a sudden, it was like I had hit the back of a lorry, I realised what I had done dropped it into 4th and carried on going cos there was no was I was letting that Boxster past

Now I have told you my really boaring story my qusetion is: I know that the rev limiter is there to protect the engine, but I just want to be sure that I will not have damaged anything by hitting it.

Please don't tell me i bwoke it

Cheers

Andy

Well, the whole point of the rev limiter is to protect it so by definition you haven't broken it!

Frequently have to drive rental cars and boy do their rev-limiters get a work out! Can't cope with an engien that finishes at 6K anymore!

Don't Worry about busting the engine accelerating. Normally have about 1000rpm between fuel cut and the valves playing the drums on the pistons.

The one to watch for is down changing as your momentum will mechanically drive it over the rev limiter

Just make sure you keep wasting the Boxsters

your engines safe, just a bit of S2000 pride lost as the Boxter will think our little Japanese screamer is a bit slow
