I actually agree with this IF it is done properly and only dropped on dangerous roads and they increase others.
However this got my goat and I gave up reading after that.

It's never going to be done properly. It's just an excuse for the government to be a killjoy. Why do they think speed is such an issue. There's too many dozy ****ers driving around at 40 mph everywhere who don't signal, use their mirrors or have any kind of lane discipline.
Also, there is far too much uncertainly arouns speed limits as it is, this just paves the way for more people not knowing the limit on any given stretch of road.
And a whole lot more people watching their speedometers instead of the road (there go more bunnies then).
Still, good news fro Britains ailing signage industry

you know what goning to happen. There will be blanket 20mph limits on roads and 50 on m'ways, then put average speed camera everwhere. The fines will go up, there will be 0 zero tolerance, All in 5 years i reckon. So at the next election vote these dimwits out
It seems you can't win either way heads you lose because the slower you drive the more inefficient the car is and therefore bad for the planet. Tales you lose because the slower you drive the less concentration you require and thus more likely to have an accident. whatever happened to the old fashined word "commonsense"...............maybe that's two words!!!!

We had a recent change not far from here - 30 zone moved 300 yards further up the road, and the rest of the stretch reduced to 50 instead of national speed limit - its not like its a twisty road either - its pretty straight.
