Unhappy Roadkill

I don't think any other car I've driven has ever attracted so many bugs to annihilate themsleves on the windscreen and the wash/wipers don't get rid of the blood and guts either I don't get it

And to top off the insect ming, an albatross (or similar) shat on the front bumper at the weekend

Still, good weekend with probably 200/400 miles with roof down who says the M25 isn't fun

The Ss windscreen is fairly upright. Probably more so than most cars.

You should try an old 911

Or a jeep!

That must have been a rather large dump then!

As for the bugs I know where you're coming from as I have to drive country lanes regularly and its a nightmare, especially at dusk and in the night with headlights on.

I just use a clay bar to get all the stuff off the nose of the car and the windscreen. As for being able to wash them off with the washer jets unless you have a strong solution of screen wash fluid then I don't think you can do a lot.

I personally don't use any washer detergent as I don't want to risk damaging the hood but I do have some Meguiars Quick Detailer and a microfibre cloth in the boot in case of the kamikaze bug attack.

I use a vinegar based glass cleaner on the number plate, works fine, as it does on the windscreen.

I use a product called Traffic Film Remover, available from Machine Mart or other good tool type stores.

It gets sprayed on to a dampened car and left to work while I do the wheels. By the time you then take a jet wash to the bugs, they lift straight off

I tried using the clay bar (wanna take you to a ...etc...) last week to remove bugs from the bonnet/bumper and ended up making swirl marks in the paint - bugger!

[edit to correct smelling pistakes]

I drove from Dodge City to Wichita at night once. I had to stop every 2 hours as the windscreen was covered with bugs, some as big as my hand!

Yak!

Upright screens collect stones too.

I get through at least one per year.

I thought someone was dedicating a thread to me.

Strangely though, I have my own roadkill story from yesterday. Driving up Highway 191 in central arizona, through a very thick forest. Suddenly a rather unpleasant smell. Around the corner, one huge Elk carcass in the middle of the road.
