Smile Roof leak!

Hi new to the forum

Had a Black with red leather S for about a month now, lovin the car especially the handling as it's my first rear drive motor!!!

However got in after work today in the pissin rain, driove about a mile down the road and get a small leak from the passenger side where the hood joins the top of the windscreen in the corner!

Car is AP1 on X plate, anyone got any ideas as to how to remedy??? Could the seal have come loose as i was going pretty quick (7.5k revs in 6th ) last night ..... on private road of course.

Car has been in wet before but never noticed a leak?

Any help welcome.

I also have a slight issue with a leak mine is a 51 plate and does not leak untill I move the car once i move a stream of water pours into the passenger seat from the joint in the seal. it is as if the rain builds up in the seal then moves when the car moves.

Any ideas

Inside the doors are loads of rollers and guides which push the window into the roof, to form this seal. If any of these have come loose, or been removed, then this might be part of the problem.

Silly question but does your window rattle, when it's up and the roofs down?

Have you tried greasing the seals recently?

I have had leaks in both places mentioned above and some Shin-Etsu re-applied every now and then stops most. I still get the occasional one from half way along - as above the car stores it up until I am late for work at which point it dumps it all in my lap.

You don't have to use Shin-Etsu grease (fairly expensive stuff)
It's just a general purpose silicone grease you need. You can find it in hardware stores for helping with guttering/drainage seal assembly or maplins do it (also has uses in electronics)

Grease your seals

See the tech FAQ.

If that doesnt work, replace the rubber bit causing the problem
