Engine life is entirely related to left foot, a tunned engine uses no more power and does no more harm to its internals when driving at the same speed as a standard car if it takes 50 hp to push the car at 70 mph thats it nothings changed, the problem is that the temptation to rag the nuts of it is almost irisistable. If you drove the car exactly the same with same acceleration and deceleration as before you fitted a blower it would last exactly the same but then whats the point in doing it.

So don't accelarate and you will be fine eh?

I think there is enough evidence out there to suggest that 300 ish bhp will be reliable assuming it's mapped and fitted correctly.

Back in the real world that is impossible to do.
With an extra 80BHP on tap and the engine delivering 240 BHP before VTEC comes in it is always going to be under greater strain than the stock engine.

I think if you leave it parked in the garage it will last a lifetime

being serious if you show a little mechanical sympathy by letting oil get fully up to temp (not just 3 bars on temp gauge) before going mad and letting a very hot engine idle a little before switching off it should be OK plus I will probably go for the 6 month oil change as well just for a little more safety

I don't disagree just pointing out the extra power is only used when you drive it faster/quicker than before, you could in theory drive it to work every day without using any of the extra power and not increase wear on the internals OK I know in reality its not going to happen
slightly off topic but it seems Rotrex have a variable magnetic clutch in the pipe line so you can dial in the revs of the SC as you see fit from nothing say on the motorway to keep fuel economy to full drive when you need that little something extra

Just an update on the Rotrex install, as you can see Richard is taking note of the comments on this site, the filter is now moved away from the radiator and the welds have gone from the pipes
I think once the support plate is anodised red it will look
