Hi all, just thought I would post a few pics of a run out we had earlier this morning
Apparently this 'devils bridge' is in Kirkby Lonsdale and I have to say I will be getting the map files from Daz the guy who organised this trip and running it again as a NW meet, the roads were absolutely amazing, had a real blast. There were many bikers there at the meeting point (the river pictured), however none were jumping off it .. which apparently some find fun to do .. someone mentioned the bridge is 50 foot high ... !
Kirby Lonsdale always wanted to put this place in a lakes meet.
Taffy Thomas A famous story teller from Kirby Lonsdale tells tales about Devils bridge.
I would say that as I grew up just around the corner.
There are some fantastic back roads between Kirkby Lonsdale and Lancaster.
Don't know if you checked it out today, but it is well worth a blast through the Trough of Bowland too.
Thanks for the comments all!
We didn't do the trough today Lee, however we went on a run a few weeks ago with Ed (echo66) and we did the trough then, and yes I agree that is a fantastic route. Just thinking to myself ... a combination of that route and this would be quite something, would have to be an early morning run though ... 7am start or something ... just thinking out loud heh heh
The guys who organised the run were local to 'Caton' in Lancaster and they knew all these 'back roads' ... I definitely want to do it again amazing ... some of the best roads I have ever been on they are perfect for 'spirited' driving.
Yeah there are some fantastic roads up there, I did a road trip on the bikes about 6 years ago and we stopped off at Devils Bridge, then up over the moors through Sedburgh, eventually finishing up in Longtown near the Scottish border where we stayed over. Roads up there were well sighted and really quiet (apart from lots of suicidal rabbits!), good fun on a bike and I would imagine great 'S2000' roads
