Default Running in

My S2000 is due for delivery late September or early October, hopefully !! and I can't wait...

My question is regarding running the car in, I know you are not supposed to use the VTEC until after 600 miles, but if you just "happen" to use VTEC now and again before 600 miles will you damage the engine perminantly ??

I simply wouldn't take the risk. Just vary your driving up to the VTEC point but don't exceed. 600 miles goes by pretty quickly, honestly !

When you get past 6,500 rpm, 9k comes up pretty quick too It is better to build up the rpm slowly and wait until after 600 miles. You will probably need at least that long to get used to the handling of the car. In the future, it will give you greater confidence knowing that your car is properly run in. You will find a number of threads on here that discuss running in in more detail.

Very good point. Particularly if you're not used to rear wheel drive and even if you are, its a good idea to get used to how she handles in the wet.
