Running in - what to do ?
I will be getting my S2K in the next two weeks - how should it be run in ? is it OK to do the VTEC thingy once in a while even when running in ? Please give some advice.
Also - how does one join the club ?

It should be run in for 600 miles not exceeding 6k revs. Don't expect your dealer to be able to advise you on this! Plenty of people have reported thrashing the nads off the car from the word go and got away with it. I personally wouldn't advise it. Common sense says a bedding in period with an engine this hi tech has got to be desirable. Don't do all your running in miles at a constant speed either, i.e. motorway cruising. Try to vary your speeds during this period. Keep a very regular check on your oil initially, and don't be too concerned if it uses scary amounts of oil to begin with. It will eventually slow down and virtually stop. Be very careful in the wet! 240 bhp RWD + stock SO2's, can be bad news.
Once you have a VIN no. for your car you can enter it in your user profile and you will then be shown as an owner here..

thanks Cedric for the answer - surely once or twice on the VTEC won't hurt ?
Anyway - thanks also for the RWD warning but I am used to RWD. I have driven RWD for the last few years or so - MX5 1.8iS and MGB-GT although I appreciate that the S2K is another magnitude in the power stakes.
You mentioned stock S02s - are the stock tyres no good then ? is it possible to have a different tyre without effecting your insurance ?

600 miles is not such a huge amount. It would certainly be better if you could wait that long before VTECing it. It is not clear what information the dealers can get from the ECU when servicing/repairing the car, but I wouldn't be suprised if they could find out whether you VTEC'd before the end of the run-in, which could possibly invalidate the warranty if you did.....
As AnDy says, the stock tyres are fine, as long as you are aware of the limits in the wet/cold.
The only other advice I would give you is ..... have fun with your new baby
