Default rust problem

had the car in at the dealer yesterday for a wheel bearing problem and asked them to look at a small patch of paintwork (about 1cm2 near the rear light cluster) which was bubbling up.

told me it's actually a bigger problem than i thought, and that various bits down pretty much the whole side of the car need addressing. said it would involve stripping down to the bare metal and perhaps welding bits into the bodywork

not sure whether this is cos i can't see anything wrong with the rest of the wing. however it's not like they're trying to drum up business cos they're not doing it themselves.

anyone else had this problem? how much is it likely to cost if they had to do that to nearly the whole side of the car? i daren't get a quote yet too scared for my bank balance

Isn't it covered by the anti-corrosion warranty? Or is it out of that warranty period now?

personally I would take it to a proper (non Honda) bodyshop and ask them to have a look at it. Would be interesting to see what the pro's suggest - hll o a lot cheaper than main dealer too.

Go to your local Taxi rank and ask which body shop they use. Chances are it will be a good quality low priced one as they have to keep the cabs looking clean.

Thats how I found my guy and he is very talented and incredibly cheap.

Can anybody confirm the specifics of the anti corrosion warranty? I need some work done if it is indeed 6 years, 60,000 miles...
