Err, thatcham 2 isn't an alarm standard IIRC - it's specifically for imobilisers.

ALL S2000s are definitely fitted with a thatcham cat 2 immobiliser.

ALL UK original S200s are retro-fitted prior to sale with a crappy alarm provided by Honda UK, not Honda (the manufacturer). This is rated as a Cat 1 alalrm.

If your car is an EU parallel import, regardless of the fact that it is RHD, it has no alarm fitted.

Not sure about JDM models.

TBH, I have no problem getting insurance for mine in the absence of an alarm.

Easy recognition features:

JDMs have funny number plate recesses and non-standard numberplates, may have cloth or half leather seats and may have an inbuilt satnav.

EU models are indistinguishable from a UK model except that they lack locking wheelnuts and an alarm.

UK models are the other ones.

I think there's a "is my car an import" thread somewhere... I'll post a linky in a minute.

Cheers Ian.

No, its definitely a UK car. Ive had it 2 and a half years now. Its just that I have recieved my renewal from my insurers and it says it has a Thatcham 1, not a Thatcham 2. never noticed it before.

Is Thatcham 1 a step up or down from 2? Ill let them know its 2 anyway.

Tim,

I failed to explain properly - Sorry!

Cat 2 is immobiliser only.
Cat 1 is immobiliser plus alarm.

Yours, as a UK car has an alarm and immobiliser and is therefore a Cat1.

Not sure about being a wise one.

It's more the case that I had to go through the same faff in November to get mine insured again.
