The more I hear about this car (apart from the name) the better it seems.

Final comment here is "This really is the best handling production Porsche ever"

I will be watching prices with interest.......

I'm hanging on in there for great depreciation - give it 12 months and it will be in my league - though by then I might be in 911 league

I just can't get my head around the ugly rear of the Cayman or its equally strange name. To me its equal in ugliness to the Cayenne. I would take a used 911 over the Caymen.

I do really like the new Z4 Coupe, but still a little undecided over the front.

I quite like this (apart from the name) but I don't see why anyone would buy one over a second hand 996 or 993.

Go and buy a Sagaris and scare yourself senseless! You'll be able to get one for late 30's by this time next year........

I think its in for some major depreciation. No way are the city boys and the like who get these cars to be ahead of the jones going to like being mistakenly labelled a "gayman". It won't bother me though i'll debadge it if i get alot of stick a few years from now when i get one for a bargain price.

My thoughts exactly...and I suspect they will look good in the flesh, in silver.

Shite name though....but it appears to be a far superior car to the Boxter and some journo's are saying its better than a 911.

I do hope they depreciate quickly as even when I can afford a 997 - I would find it hard to justify the extra cost.

I don't think it will deprecate that quickly , my local dealer has a big waiting list.

Don't expect a new Porsche to depriciate quickly whatever the name.

They could call it the Porsche Penis Extension and still sell vast numbers (well, maybe not, but I don't think the 'Gay Man' associations will put many off).

Unfortunately for petrolheads, Porsche has and probably always will be attractive to badge snobs and social climbers (how else could they re-badge a Toe-rag and sell it for twice the price). Second hand values will be strong until the waiting list for the car comes down to a reasonable level, which could be anything up to a couple of years. Remember the TT and Beetle? People were importing LHD versions into the UK and charging dealer prices for them in the early days, I don't see this car being any different.

As for whether the car is desirable, personally I'd rather have any number of cars for the money, I've always found Porsches uniquely soulless and I know I'm not alone, I don't see this being any different. Capable yes, fast certainly, but nontheless, not particularly deisreable, to me anyway.
