S second ?
I am on the brink of buying a "car park car" or a "beater" as more commonly known.
I want something cheap, frugal and relatively reliable but on the other hand need something that is less embarrassing than a sheep to be seen getting out of.
I think I've narrowed it down to a Fiat Seicento sporting (rollerskate and really cheap ) which I can use for the commute in bad weather, leaving at Gatwick when I go to London and dumping in multi storey car parks etc. etc.
Now, here are the questions:-
1) How many of use keep the S as a second car (I like the thought of that
)
2) Do you actually use the beater, or did you just use it for a few weeks and then go back to the S ?
(I use to be indecisive..but now..?...Hmmmm)

I have a beater car. I generally use it for all my commuting - unless I walk out of the front door and it's a beautiful day.
The beater never ever gets used at weekends, no matter what the weather is like.
It works for me

I would only consider a beater if I knew my rust problem would resurface over the winter. The only other reason to buy one would be for economy, but with additional insurance, road tax and buying the car in the first place, the difference would not be worth it. Weather-wise, I run my car all year round (20k miles annually) and I've rarely had any problems. I may get a van this winter if I feel my business can justify it.
Thing is my wife drives a new Citroen C8 so it will be a complete luxury to have a 3rd car, but then her's gets knocks in car parks also !!
If the sun shines it'll be the S but I want something for days like today when its pissistently raining (aquaplaning !!!). Also snow and ice is a no no and it 'releases' me to keep the S for longer than I had planned to which in turn means I can buy my next toy for cash
Decisions...decisions....

I have a P reg Clio which sits outside and is used if going to places like B&Q or similar. I never drive that car unless space is needed or parking at train stations etc. I am going to change it soon because I need an estate or 4X4 because I want to get a couple of dogs in the next 3-4 months time.
I ran one for a while, got a Citroen Xantia thinking it would be a nice comfortable ride for my Brighton to Crawley commute. I hated driving it, awful car, and it was unreliable, cost me a lot in maintenance, not to mention insurance, tax etc. Thankfully don't work in Crawley now, so no longer needed it, and sold the heap of s**te.
