Default S2000 AP brake kit

Hiya guys am seriously considering getting this brake kit but still not sure if it will clear my aftermarket 17" wheels with an +52 offset? Has anyone here have any experience with this s2k ap brake kit?

Cheers

What wheels have you got? Different wheels have different clearances.

Kev, they will not fit behind your GPs without using spacers.

Hi Kev, having looked down this route before and decided its not needed on the S, have you thought of a Dixcel setup?

That's because all aftermarkets apart from the decent wheels are the wrong offset! It's the sort of bullshit comment you get on many websites. AP ought to be done under the Trades Descriptions Act.

You need to re-phrase the question; which BB kits WILL fit behind my proper wheels?

The statement on AP's website is correct, but not specific.

There are only a handful of aftermarket wheels with the correct offset and spoke design that allow big calipers to be used on the S2000 (without spacers).

S2000 specific Mugen GPs do not meet the above requirements.

You need to check the actual profile of the spokes. AP often have fitting templates for their kits - you print them out, stick on card, cut round the outline and "fit" inside your wheel to see if it will clear or not. No idea if they have an S2000 one, but you could ask.

The AP Racing kit for the S2000 was originally measured on a Japanese race car using rather wide wheels. While they did use a thinner disc (26mm) than they would have normally, it is still very tight on clearance. You're likely to struggle to find many wheels that will fit while keeping a sensible offset.

The suspension design of the S2000 is such that it limits how much the disc plane can be moved. Makes it very tricky to fit a decently stiff caliper in.
