Thumbs up S2000 or CTR FD2

Decisions, decisions...I have been having great fun with my S as a weekend toy and occasional trackday car. Now the time has come to decide to invest more cash in the S or consider other more track biased options such as the FD2 Type R. Stay with me while I explain my thinking!

To get the S ready for a few more trackdays and to have a go in Hill Climb/Sprint or 2 over the next year or so I reckon I would be looking at spending

Are bigger brakes needed for a hill climb? I would have thought some decent pads and perhaps discs would suffice? I'm not convinced that the engine mods would make any discernible difference either. Lose some weight from the car would be more beneficial, I'd have thought?

Bigger brakes are more a trackday consideration - the DBA slotted and competition pads are a fall back option. The exhaust etc is the least important, more aural than required.

The weight loss is an option I will look into that - though going that extreme pushes me towards the other options like the R26.R.

I would suggest that if you want to do more track work you should buy a second hand DC5 Integra Type R, this is more track focused than the FD2 civic, is a four seater so does have some praticality and it is likely parts will be cheaper to maintain as it shares many with the EP3 civic type R. if you are interested in this route speak with TGM motorsports in Fleet, they race and work on many DC5's.

Forget the Renalt, piece of rubbish!

An EG6 with a B18C-R will beat an FD2/DC5.

The parts are cheap/plentiful and stripped out they weight in at 950kg and have 200bhp.

For a hill climb/track work they really fly!

Whilst the B18C is a fabulous engine, if you go down the engine swap route it has to be a K20A nowadays

True that. I thought the S was as close to track prepped (barring Exige/Elise) as they come? I would think there is less to do with the S to get good results than the FD2. Some how I don't think 1K on an FD2-R = 5K on an S.
