Default S2000 GT

I'm sure one of you knowledgable lot on here can tell me, what year the S2000 GT was introduced? Can't seem to find a definitive answer. I thought I'd read somewhere that it was on the facelift models, so MY04 onwards?

The only reason I'm interested, is I like to keep an eye on the market at what's available and prices etc, and have seen lots of sellers advertising cars from 1999-2003 as GT models, and unbelievably there's quite a few that don't even have a hardtop.

Am I right in thinking the GT models main feature was a hardtop, so without one, it isn't really a GT??

GT only difference is the hard top, and they were certainly available from 02, not sure about earlier than that.

For early cars HT and the rear demister switch, loom and catchers

The later cars got a heated smaller rear screen so have the wiring in place although you may need a HT connector

Would the GT be stipulated on the V5 document and also doing reg searches like insurance quotes etc??

If they were available prior to my04 then I'm wondering if mine is a GT model as mines an 03 model with everything that notts mentioned for earlier version?

Yes, it should be on the V5.

Insurance is sometimes cheaper but of course, many people have sold on their hard tops.

IIRC the 'GT' variant was introduced in 04. It was a standard car with an optional hardtop fitted for an extra £1k.

Prior to that you had to buy the hardtop separately. To buy the parts and get them fitted by a Honda dealer was in the region of £3.5k

If your car is an 03 it is not a 'GT' ... it is a standard car with a hardtop (yes, I know it is thew same thing)

Here's a clue to the models registered per year which suggests it was an option for MY02 onwards: https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=...&q=honda+s2000

So in that case, anything under my04 effictively isn't a GT (and in my case a standard car with a HT) and won't be on V5 etc??

GTs were available from 2002, and it will say so on the V5. If a non-GT car has had a hard top added later, then it will not say GT on the V5.

Just got round to looking at the link you provided, which clears it up. Cheers!!
