Default S2000 Hardtop - fitting...

Hey everyone!

two quick questions, i have bought a hardtop from some people in surrey, only thing is the Fitting Kit i have ordered hasn't turned up and i need to pick up the hardtop on Saturday!

so... firstly, is there ANYWAY that i can attach the Hard top TEMPORALLY just to get it home to my s2000 without the Kit!!!

I need to drive about 200miles so any ideas need to hold for that amount of time.. i have heard that you can "bodge" it.. its doesn't need to be safe from thieves, it just needs to not fly off!

alternatively, can anyone tell me the dimensions? im gonna need to try to get it in the back of my mates estate car, but i cant find the width or length of it anywhere on the net.... any help would be great!

please please please !

thanks
Danny

hi danny,

personally i would not risk try to fit the hardtop without kit to many things could go wrong and could cause damage.

just measured mine in the dark and freezing cold , they should be close enough.

length .................58"
height..................17"
width...................54"

all approximate but near enough.

hope this helps.

Bungee rope the hardtop to the seat rails. I did this on mine on a fairly long(defo. more than 200 miles) 90mph+ collection. Obviously make sure that the bungees are on tight enough.

You can fit a stand & cover in the boot with enough persuasion.

Hmm - okay!

thank you so much for your help people
i will buy you all tea's and coffee's at the next meet!!

think i will give the "bungie technique" a go, i guess it will still be locked on at the top of the windscreen.. should be okay.

thanks
Dan

Personally i wouldn't risk it. If the bunges are not tight enough you might damage the front catchers as they will take all the impact of bumpy roads.

Anyway just to have an idea of a fitment in an estate car (although you have the dimensions) i went to pick mine with my friends crysler voyager which is very big and i couldn't fit it in the car. I had to tight it on the top of the car. You can do the same if the car has storage rails and you put foam packing in the hard-top

TBH you should be treating the front catchers as disposable. The hardtop requires harder / stronger catchers & IIRC are included in the official HT fitting kit.

Can't say that my trip placed any noticeable wear on mine, but then I knew that my kit contained replacements. FWIW I left the HT bungie fitted for a couple of weeks (and few hundred miles) after collection

No argument on that
