Default S2000 Reg's

Never thought I'd want a personal reg for any car I'd have but somehow the S is different. (Always thought it was un-necessarily pretentious etc but kinda like the idea of a S2000 related plate).

Ideally I'd like 'S2000 GCF', GCF being my initials, but that's gone.

However, I've found an alternative which I like, is available and is pretty damn cheap but I need to move the <space> one position. All the letters and numbers are exactly what I want, its just a case of moving the <space> to just before my initials.

A friend in the trade says that I will struggle to get anyone to make the plate with the <space> character moved as it has to be as produced as shown on the V5. He reckons I'll have to get it done in Ireland.

Has anyone done this for their S reg plate and got any advice ???

I have moved mine and touch wood no trouble yet - 6 months.. S20 OJO reads S200 JO.

Lots of people on the Internet will make the plate up for you as a "show plate"

Dreamer/Jo, thanks very much for the feedback. Great advice/idea about the show plate as well, I like that. Looks like it shouldn't be a problem at all and I'll go for it.

My front plate reads as an S2000 XX plus its 3/4 size never had a problem.. except one bored copper in cornwall, Told him i'd just come back from a show and had forgot to swap the plates. Had a 'normal' one in the boot. Velco on and off

Rear one is as it should be though, less hassle if a coppers following you.

Ruckus/Busamav - Thanks for the comments. Looks like I'll be getting a new reg before I get my S.

Cheers

Give www.gtgrafix.com a look - they did a good job with my S200D ** plate. Ask them to use the old style font without the serifs, so that the D looks more like an O.

EDIT: Just realised you're not necessarily talking about an S200D plate!

I have R16H UK on mine and have several times been followed by / behind police cars and haven't (touch wood) had any problems yet.

I have a 3/4 size front plate and its legal on a JDM. If there is no actual fixing on the front of a car imported from outside the EU, you can stick on a 3/4 one. Regulation 18 with the DVLA I believe

Also, don't forget you can have an S2K ** one. I have one but like you was always cautious so the last 2 letters are not my initials. Its the S2K bit I was after.

Police are cool with it because it actually makes it more memoranle whereas I think you are pushing it a bit if you make a D look like an 0

I use www.fancyplates.com for mine. They are beased in Northern Ireland so will do anything you ask and provide excellent service.
