It just goes to show you can't be too careful. What with yourself and Stuart's (S2000SM) write-off aquaplane.

I too had an "slight" aquaplane "twitch" even though I was driving as carefully as possible on New Years Day down the M11 at about 50mph. Nothing worth mentioning in the frame of this and Stuart's threads.

Let's hope more of us are just as careful considering (a) the car and (b) the weather. However, I'm sure there'll always be some idiot ... although unlikely to be a member of s2ki judging.

Glad all is ok.

Soooo glad you're ok.

From my recent experience, I think the moment you lose it - and know you've lost it - is the worst bit; certainly it will stay with me forever (you might have seen that I came off the road at 60mph in a zero traction style on 1/1/03) so I'm glad you seem to have retained a light hearted and philosophical air about it.
Good that you had the foresight to be going carefully in the first place - makes what did happen a lot easier to bear than what could have.

All hail the Gods of fleet insurance. Negotiations with my insurer (privately owned) are just beginning.....

That two S's off in slippy conditions, and two drivers just walked away. Not sure if there is a good or bad statistic in there....

Dear Mr. Benson,

Chrysler Corp. would like to contract your services to test the winter handling of our new Dodge Tomahawk. An unusual number of wheels mated to a motorcycle chassis, the "bike" is powered by an 8.3 litre Dodge Viper engine. We think the "bike" will achieve 0-60mph in 2.5secs and top 300mph but frankly we aint got a clue as no-one has had the balls to ride it yet.

Please note, your contract duration would be 3.5secs - we dont expect the testing to take any longer than that.

Yours Sincerely,

Chuck Buckler
CEOEO Chrysler Corp.

Oh bloody hell Mark! A timely warning to us all - thanks for posting in such a informative, humorous and stoic fashion.

Your comments about the LSD 'helping' matters along is interesting. I experienced this in a very muddy field at Goodwood last year - suddenly all / the vast majority of drive was sent to the drivers side rear. In my circumstances this was merely a minor inconvenience. However Muppet posted some weeks back recounting a very similar incident on a wet road - it gave him a nasty moment, but no more. Sad to hear your LSD moment ( ) ended so badly.

With zero grip I am sure there was nothing to be done to prevent the accident.

I hope you are soon reacquainted with your S.

You can say that again! Blimey, it nust have felt like some giant had a hold of the car

Sorry to hear that news Mark. It's a good job you have a company car

Did it happen on that lane I navigated that night I stayed over? The narrow "out in the wilds" one with all the fallen branches and huge puddles etc?

Regards to MAndy
