Is the S2000 underated
Well, me and quite a few mates went for a few pints the other day, there was about 7 of us.
The conversation revolved around "women+sex > women+sex > breasts > football > cars!

Interesting most of us have fast cars (theres one guy who hates cars...dont ask!)
However i was suprised by the comments regarding the S, especially my subaru mates. Most of them when i first got it said what have you done to it, is it a turbo etc, what handling mods have you got. They couldnt believe how fast it was for a 2.0 n/a and and how well it handled (experiences with them vs the S). Mainly the Subaru mates said along the lines of "phaah 2.0 n/a vs 2.0 turbo ha!".
On a side note, it was funny when i didnt tell one of my mate about gears etc.
Most were suprised when i said it was bone stock (of course it isnt now).
I get the feeling this is the general consensus with other car owners, unless they really know there stuff. I know a few other car owners regarded it as a bit of scalp in past experiences on the road.
For me i chose the S because, 1) the engine 2) good reviews 3) looks 4) Honda
It still is amzing for a 7 year old car, and yep i know most of the competition is starting to overtake, but it still holds its own
Anyone else care to chime in?

Definately, I went to a universal car RR meet recently where we all went to the pub after. Everyone who drove in convoy seemed very impressed with how well it went. I think they just see it as a 2.0 NAlitre engine rather than having 240hp
Yes, I think it is under rated. Which is why it is so easy to surprise people. I recall a "spirited" run on a good winding mountain drive we have here when I was in the only NA car in the run. The one guy in a really modded Evo and who does not have a rear view mirror (idiot) was surprised to see in the video that I was on his tail all the way. He said that would have made him very nervous if he had seen that.
And Honda suffers with this a lot - its cars a good and tend to allow them to be compared to cars with bigger engines, turbos, pedigree etc. to their own detriment. They can keep apace, put at the end of the day, it is only a Honda. I think the NSX replacement will suffer from this. Already the journalists are wondering why would anyone pay for a $150K+ Honda when their a Porsche, Ferrari etc etc in the world.

The S is a masterpiece, the only real let down is the lack of a real roof conpartment rather than that stupid torneo cover. makes the roof look a bit cheap when it is down, compared to similar convertables.
A guy who i have known for a few years came up to me the other day and said "I hear your car is actually really fast, I just thought it was a silly hairdressers car until peter told me..."
Clearly he doesn't know cars, but i guess this is the general consensus of the motoring public.

Its true - many have never heard of the car, and the few left who have heard stereotype toward hairdresser - I took great pride in converting an elise owner today, sideways (carefully of course) round berkley sq. ;-)
