I think it has more to do with the challenge of doing something different. Kind of like the guy with the Electric s2000. Way more effort and money than slapping on FI... but more gratification I suppose in the end

Very much a South Mimms school of thought. Expect performance to be justified by means of torque or some other

Nothing wrong with that of course.

Well, it was SOHC and Honda, not DOHC and Renault. For that, i'm taking the win
It's a Nissan engine which was used in some Renaults rather than the other way round, but you probably knew that.

For the work involved in these V6 conversions you may as well put a Chevy LS in. They're physically smaller than a VQ35DE and a lot more powerful.
I agree, but I still think it is sacrilege changing out one of the cars best features!

I've seen some beautiful LS conversions in RX7s... I presume Mazda purists would say the same!

FWIW I would sell a bollock for an RX7 with an LS7... Rrrrrr...

I you had the money and didn't care about fuel economy or reliability then it would definately have to be a four rotor engine for the RX7.

If I had the money and didn't care about fuel economy or reliability I'd have a supercharged Chevy LS in my hypothetical RX7!

I saw the Mazda 787 doing demo laps at Le Mans last year - awesome sound and spectacle!

Absolutely agree with you on the 787b sounding amazing. Seen it going up the hill at Goodwood!
