Id love to know how they get those 0-60 times, 4.9 secs, thats the lowest I've ever seen for the S2000 and the NSX, thats approaching Ferrari and 911 figures

I understand factors such as air density, tyre stickiness and local 98 RON fuel have a lot to do with it.

Also, they do several runs dumping the clutch at various speeds and quote the best results, which is the only fair way.

You wouldn't do that if it were your own car!

The best recorded time I have seen for the S2000 is 5.1 seconds. This test was done with an official Japanese race timer and it was thought that the ideal surface the test was conducted on contributed to that time. I can believe this result therefore, but no I wouldn't want to do it in my car!

I think it was a misprint as the 0-60 and the 60-0 were exactly the same for both cars... seems too much of a coincidence to me...

When testers do 0-60 times they have absolutely no mechanical sympathy.

I remember reading about how they got the 0-60 time for the Impreza. Revs at 5K (right in the turbo's power band) and then snap the foot to the left dumping the clutch very aggressively.

Believe me, you'd only do that a couple of times before the clutch died. The Impreza has so much grip that something would have to give

Now the only time I tried a "Wheel Screech" start in the S2000, reved the clutch to 4K and slipped the clutch I just got slip and an aweful pong (I had to check my pampers....). Never tried it since

There was a lot of conjecture on the main board about this time some six to nine months ago.

Apparently, there was some acknowledgement in the magazine some time later that they had gotten the time for the S2000 mixed up with that for the NSX.
