Hi All,

This is written without prejudice and is, to the very best of my knowledge, completely factual.

OK, this is obviously a long post and although I recommend that you all read it I appreciate that most won't be bothered! So, to cut a long story short ...

Firstly, glad you came out of it smiling...

Secondly, as this forum is read by owners and dealers alike, [paranoid] i'd be very careful how you word some of the above or it may come back and bite you on the ar$e! [/paranoid]

(Although i agree with some of the things you mention!)

Well done Jinjer. I can testify to how another dealer has been incompentant and dishonest throughout my ownership too. However in my case it only took the written threat of legal action rather than actual legal action to get them to do what they had promised in writing to do.

Its a real shame that honda dealers let the side down so much. Some of them are very good, some of them are awful. I know honda needs dealers to sell cars, but do they realise how much damage some of their dealers do to the honda brand?

I'm also the victim of an incompetent dealership, now travel 100 mile
round trip to get my car looked after properly.

(I also heard from someone at work that they had an hours test drive a new Civic and the same incompetent dealer tried to charge them

Excellent, interesting, informative and well constructed post

I have had more than my fair share of fights with companies and I nearly always come out victorious eventually. Those cases I do lose are usually where they satisfactorily prove to me that I am a) in the wrong b) being unreasonable.

I'm a great believer in remaining calm and objective about these matters and always documenting the facts of the case and presenting it to those concerned in a clear and coherent manner.

Well done

Bummer about leaving the fold though.

Well done, Jinjer.

It's interesting you won - by how much did you miss the service?

Also, where exactly was the corrosion? It may be a design fault, or merely bad luck.

that's a sad tale with a good eventual outcome.

must have caused you lots of stress though which isn't good.

again, i'm in a similar, but a good bit smaller, boat.

i don't think it's just honda dealers though - i think it's just people in general. it takes a long time to find people who care about the work they are doing.

i like to think that i care about my work and put a good effort into getting it right every time. others don't.
