cant really tell on the pictures but the s should have a min of 3mm of tread thats the general concensus on here.
1.6mm is the legal limit IIRC - but most change at 3mm for peace of mind

I thought the 3mm was more of an issue with the S02s rather than the RE050s, but still makes sense to swap at around that level as my rear end () has been more skittish and the tyres are at about 3mm.

Personally I'll wait til they reach the wear bars over most of the tyre. Don't believe in changing at 3mm although I appreciate some people prefer to do that. I never believe the dealer-buy yourself a 10p tyre checker from Halfords and see what tread is left.

At my cars 1st(free) service the dealer told me that all 4 tyres were at 4mm. I pointed out that the rears were only 1 day old and that I had checked the front the day before and they were at 6mm. I did question whether they really had been checked or was it just made up as this was a free service and they wanted a quick turn around. The guy behind the counter then modified the service sheet to say the tyres were 7mm rear and 5mm front.

That's shocking. One reason why I always check the basic things on my car well before a service.

Hi,

I usually go to Stratstone in Leeds for the work on my car...

I have found them to be quite negotiable on tyres, get a quote from black circles and ask them if they can match it, somehow they usually do. I get a quote from black tyres for delivery only and then stratstone often match it and include fitting and balancing etc.
Dont use them for alignment, they dont have the laser equipment, and the 1 time I did let them do it when I later got it laser checked it was wrong. Theres a company called Sunside Services Limited based near huddersfield that do a reasonable job with lasers, but Chris thingy referenced often on this site does a much better job although hes in Derby.

My 1st tyre replacements were also done at about the 12k mark, its not so unusual to have worn them out by then, although it shocked me at the time.

Hope that helps :-)
