Default Selecting Reverse

Hi all,

selecting reverse has suddenly become nigh impossible, is it the hot weather or is their something more sinister going on - anyone have any ideas

Main problem is that the gearknob will not depressed the required distance to move stick across to the reverse gate.

Thanks
Rod

Rod, need more details...

Is it after a long drive or when the transmission is hot ?

How many miles has the car done ?

Hi Andy,

only started today - after a long run. Managed to get it to the Honda garage - they are going to have a look tomorrow but reckon it is a fault inside the gearbox. The car has done 14k.

I had a problem with selecting reverse after the transmission got hot. It was very tricky to get into reverse gear and would take several attempts.
After many searches on this board there were 2 guys in the US who had the same issue. It was a spring in the selector mechanism expanding too much after it got hot, thus locking me out of reverse.
The UK Honda dealer had never heard of it, neither had Honda UK
I asked them to change the spring and hey presto, the problem was sorted.

Good luck and keep us posted.

AnDy.
