Default Self Service

Yoshi is due another service and like to have a go myself. Last time was a major at 108k.

I've read the faq and it looks like I need to do:

Oil Change
Oil Filter
Fuel Filter

Happy about the oil change but sure I've seen threads about the oil filter not being fitted to the correct tightness. I've done a search but obviously but can't find anything so now I'm not sure if that's what was being discussed

Also how easy is the fuel filter (have searched for that too but no luck)??

If it's going to prove a nightmare I'll just take him to a dealer but I'd rather not.

Wow Carrie - respect to you! I bow down in admiration...
I'm so non-techy it would be a disaster if I attempted to service my car, unless I was supervised by an experience mechanic.

Oil filter needs tightening with a filter wrench, IIRC 7/8ths of a turn after the seal makes contact. There are numbers around the edge of the filter to help with this.

Clicky for details.

I think the general concensus is that the fuel filter is a bitch to change. I'll leave someone else to give more details on the matter.

Fuel filter is OK just not a pleasant job.
Involves removing tray behind roll hoops, peeling boot skin back over tank and extracting the pump from the top of the tank.
Filter just clips on the pump.
I need to swap pumps over the weekend

Mikey, I'd just leave it in and buy a Walboro for £80.

I left mine in my first S. No probs.

Vixen - Fuel filter change is a pain and not really required as it's just a teabag looking thing that won't really get blocked unless you fill the car up from a rusty jerry can on a regular basis

Excellent! Now I'll just end up with dirty engine oil all over me, and not smelling of petrol all weekend! We'll get the folkarse done at the same time
