In my opinion Sean, the service book starts when you buy the car. A stamp tells you nothing. Was the car broken in properly during its first 500 miles? Has it even been over-revved? You will never know.
We're lucky oop North to have Daytona-Dave (Ray) who looks after our Ssssesss.
What mileage are you on? Are you due?
A fully stamped book can mean nothing. When it came to changing my diff oil last year, Ray said "I don't think either the drain or fill bolts have ever been off this". The car was just shy of 50k and it came with a 'FHSH'.
I know, yes, yes, yes, that there are good Honda dealerships out there, but I haven't found one personally. I might aswell have turned up in an MX5 last summer, given the looks I received from my local.
It depends on what you want from the car:
1. If you want to have some fun for the next twelve months or less, then stamp that book, as another unsuspecting owner will glady buy the car from you (or you'll easily trade it).
2. If this is the car you've always wanted and have no intention of letting it go, do some meets and MEET. I'm sure you'll find some other Bucks locals who'll lend a hand.
In summary, for a novice a stamped book means everything (me included at the time), but for an S aficionado, it means pretty much nowt.
Forget about it for now, get your car serviced properly by an indy (with you present) then drop that top and enjoy.
