Well, i do most of the stuff myself but get it serviced by honda saves me a bit and i get the stamp .

Personally if i looked at buying a performance car and it had been serviced most of its life by a non honda garage i wouldnt be as interested.

Plus these cars need to be serviced properly, there are good and bad garages out there but how do i know that? - you see where I'm coming from

If Honda are charging you 240 they're doing more than an oil change. Check what else needs to be done on the service sheet in the faq

I just do it myself. On an older car I don't see that it's worth it. There'll always be that one picky buyer, but if they've got the money they'll be looking at newer anyway. Better just to save money whilst you have the car, and not worry about resale.

Resale values are shot to bits anyhow, bank the cash if you aren't keeping a waranty up.

I have a low mileage 04 car. I am fine doing my own oil change, spark plug change - never tried on S2000 yet but try working on a 911. I was fed up taking the 911 to the mechanics who do not look after their customers' car. Changed the infamous spark plugs after a lot of cursing and swearing, engine, transmission oil and brake fluid change, distributor caps, rotors, alternator belt - you ge tthe picture. All from DIY sites on the net. When time comes to doing the valve clearance for the S I'll also do it myself. I am sure I will do a better job than a mechanic who is rushed by the time limitations. I for one will be happy to buy a car maintained by me!!!!!

The money you'll save from DIY will more than pay for itself when it comes to resale, even before the crash happened.

I have kept detailed record and receipts of all the mods/parts I have bought and put them in a folder. This also includes a service sheet I made dtailing what the mileage was and what jobs were performed. My car is also well documented on the forum.

This means more than any FHSH to anyone that knows anything. And it should even impress the ones that don't.
