Default Servicing.

Yep it's that time of the year again...

Looking at the service history, I'm overdue by 15 days, not a problem as I've only done 4200miles since the last service.

I'll probably get it done next month.

What's most people's views on this? Service religiously regardless of mileage or service every 5k with a basic oil and filter change regardless of the timeframe?

I've just checked the oil in the car and it's as clear as the day it was changed.

Should one consider servicing every 3-4k overkill?

Exactly my dilemma this year, but as I'm still contemplating selling the car I thought it best to have something to satisfy potential buyers.

I do about the same miles and I'm in the keep it annual- rather than to the exact anniversary of the last service. I'm planning on keeping up the "stamp per year" at the moment though (next one is 90K Miles even though I'm on 63K on the clock) - I've put about 4K on mine since he last service and there is a nice colour to the oil but not too dark

When buying I have to say, I discarded every s2k that wasn't serviced annually. Loads of people skip services based on low mileage. Maybe I'm just overly anal about it but might put off potential buyers when you come to sell. I only do around 2-3 thousand miles a year and I still service it annually.

Even if it was a couple of months over?

For the sake of £60 or whatever, might as well do an oil change at least!

I think "in the same year" is good enough for me, what you don't want to see it three years between services even with low miles in that time

Agreed, more like £160 at a reputable specialist though.

I have mine done every year - even though I've done fewer than 2000 miles each year for the last 3 years
