Default Servicing costs

I was pleasantly surprised to be quoted £150 by my local dealer to:

- change the clutch fluid
- change the gearbox oil
- change the diff oil

And I get the MOT for a further £35

(Having said that, the Honda 12 service (essientially an oil and filter change and visual inspection / checl of lots of other bits) at £165 is less attractive...

TBH all of that can be done very easily for the hefty sum of 30 minutes of your time

Phoenix honda in Stirling were charging 145 for a level one service. I wanted to bring in my own oil and filter which they don't allow. Also they wash the car with a sponge. Not good enough lol. Sponges just spread dirt. I think they were glad to see the back of me lol.

I hope that included parts (and the right oil), my local independent did the same for me for £35 and I paid £65 for the parts I supplied.

Same cost me £100 including MOT from a local ex Honda Master Tech, who's very good, friendly and picks up and drops off at my convenience. If you want his info, let me know

I've just been quoted almost £700 for this!

• Draining and replacing the engine oil
• Replace the Oil Filter
• Replace the fuel filter
• Draining and replacing the differential Oil
• Replacing the Spark Plugs
• To check and Adjust engine valves
• Full Vehicle health check
• Service Wash and Vac

Just bought the car and it hasn't been serviced by Honda for a few years so I was figuring for peace of mind I'd get a decent check over it...but that seems like a bit of a joke to me

You can save a lot by supplying some of the parts yourself, especially spark plugs. Also, ring around the dealers - they will often undercut each other.

Would the full vehicle health check actually include parts? Sounds like a labour job as opposed to including any parts, and given the first 6 points that would be something like £500 of labour? Maybe I'm missing something here. I'll find out more about what they include in that!
