Shiny Discs
Hi,
I got my MY02 S2k in November and it's discs were lacking in shine. I assumed that this was normal for a car that had not been used much recently and was expecting the rust to disappear once I started to use the car. However, they still 'ain't pretty! Has any one got any advice for cleaning them up? Are there any specific products for this out there?
Thanks in advance!
Nick

Wire brush (not on the braking surface itself) will help, they will inevitably rust again though, I have black diamond discs on the prelude and they don't seem to suffer as bad, not sure if they are available for the S2000 though. Think they are anodized / treated to stop them rusting.
Problem can get worse if you only use the car intermittently, ie just at weekends. Then the rust gets time to build up as it isn't being cleaned off each day in normal driving.
I've ended up replacing rear discs on all my previous cars prematurely because of this. Happened with the S too - discs badly corroded, but replaced under warranty.

Wait till a dry day, go for a drive, brake a lot, get them nice and shiny, then apply a good thick layer of clear grease to the brake discs. This will keep the water off, and stop the going rusty.

Yep - greasing your discs really does stop any rust problems.
Also has the uncanny knack of getting rid of any nasty unwanted deceleration if you hit the middle pedal. Car just sails on unperturbed.
Net result - you go even faster!
