Default Shock absorber changes

There's plenty of details in the FAQs and various MY suspension changes threads about the spring and ARB rates, but I can't see anything about the shock absorbers themselves - were there any differences in the damping properties, year-to-year, in these as well?

Some must use more exotic and expensive gasses than others.

I'm sure they will have matched at least the oil viscosity to the spring rate, maybe the valving too, but I found no info at all, so I based all my decision making on the spring rates, which is flawed on its own, but all the info I had to go on.

Thanks for the replies folks. I had no particular need to know, I was just curious as I'd never seen any info on the topic and thought it might be useful for anyone considering suspension changes.
