Default Short journeys in an S2000

We've had an S2000 for just over 3 years. It's currently our fun weekend car, so it spends most of the week sitting unused . However, we're thinking about moving house to somewhere that would mean around a 3.5 mile drive along country roads to the station (<10 minutes) as part of my commute.

Does anyone have any views on how bad that type of journey would be for an S2000 (twice a day, 5 days a week)? From a search of other non-S2000 forums, some people seem to think that provided you take it for a decent drive once a week to get everything properly up to temperature it isn't too bad, but I'd be interested to hear what the S2000-specific view point is! The alternative is to run a beater station car, but that obviously adds an additional cost.

I've done it in my crx for years and it didn't make it any better

If I had to do it now I'd buy a beater, or better yet use my girlfriends car as one

Thanks WinFreak - any other thoughts? Sounds like maybe a beater is the way to go...

Maybe every few days take the "long way" home?

Think that's what you'd have to do otherwise it would never really get warmed up, which isn't the best for it

The only thing that suffers during the week is the fuel economy but i'd rather be in this with the roof down than stuck sweating in some horrid beater

any damage will show up when the car is quite old

not worth worrying about if it's new or relatively young
