Default Should I have it serviced yet?

Some advice needed please.

My 'S' (which I've had about 2 months) is 3.5 years old now, but only done 16000 miles. The last service was done nearly 12 months ago, at 10000 miles, (the book has been stamped at 18000miles/24months).

Now I obviously want to keep the car serviced etc, so do I have the 36 month / 27000 mile service done now as the car is 3.5 years old? Bearing in mind it has done nowhere near the 27K miles yet?

I went in to Avondale Honda today (Stratford) and was told the cost would be

Personally if I was to buy a car that appeared to miss it's annual service I would worry that it was not looked after - have you got extended warranty cover ?

Daft as it might sound vehicles are often damaged due to lack of use as oil needs to be circulated etc. which is one reason why dealers specify age as well as mileage - the 2nd reason is to improve their profits of course.

Nigel, I'm taking mine into Tachbrook Honda in Solihull on Thursday to find out why fifth gear refuses to engage. I'll talk to the Service Manager when I'm in and get a price for you. I'm sure it won't hurt to mention that I now know of a number of other owners within the general Solihull area whose business will go wherever they can be sure of decent prices and workmanship.....

my car had it's 8000mile service before it was put up for sale.......but it took a while to sell so by the time the next service interval was due 6 months later the car had not even done 1000miles!!!! and when I 'phoned the dealer's service department they said that realistically it could wait until the next service was due based on mileage but then again the car is fairly new and relatively low mileage and I am not losing any sleep over it to honest

It's having it's optional oil service at 12,500 miles in a couple of weeks
