Happen all the time like this in HK, that road is only 10 mins from where I live so I am pretty used to it and not only Jap car race on the road. We have Ferrari, Lambo, GTR, loads of M3, Golf, Evo, AMGs..all have race like that as well and the bet is high there. I used to go watch a lot of them as I only live few minute away from there and I used to go out on Sunday morning with my uncle who races professionally in Asia Porsche GT series and won a few championship and he still take me out and race with all his professional mate with Evos, AMG, BMW, Ferrari 360s, RS4...etc on Sunday morning where all the mountain road are empty. It feel completely normal for me to race on the road as I bought up this way, that how I felt for many years until I came to UK and realised racing can actually be safe and racing on the road is bad and stupid!
We have no where to race as we don't have a track in HK, everyone been talking about this subject for years that we should build a track in HK so we won't race on the street anymore but because everyone raced on the road for the last 20 years and there been some pretty nasty accident so the impression to HK government/general public is that if you drive fast car or race car = bad people! For me it felt really wrong as I know a lot of professional racing driver and they are all good people and still race on the road...weird...
Is a very bad cycle, we don't have a track so we gonna find somewhere to have fun with our car and this give bad impression to government so they will not consider to open a track, so people still go race on the road....
That is the main reason I stay in UK because I love car too much and I don't want get class as 'bad people' just because of my passion and profession, in here people who race or work in car industry classed as a Professional and you do get the respect you deserved but in HK we get classed to the worst!
We have a lot of nicely tuned car in HK and we love our cars to bits, people spend stupid amount of money to get their car tuned up and dress up, if our government been more open and well look into this business and open a track up there the racing industry should be huge over in HK...
I just don't see this will happen in my lifetime
