Default Simple Servicing Poll

Poll is fairly self-explanitory I feel I'm trying to gauge whether the majority of owners supply their own oil during a service or if they just leave it to the stealer to put in whatever they have through the back.

I think that providing your own oil and other consumables says to the dealer that you think they're plonkers, and no doubt antagonises them.

I just asked them to tell me what oil they used (so I could use the same brand) and have had no problems.

Oh, and yes, it was the correct type of oil ... Esso Ultron in my case.

Having had dealing with Citroen, Peugeot and Subaru I'm inclined to think they are all plonkers

Or you could ask yourself what the common denominator was ...

My car has always been run on Shell Helix Ultra, but my local dealer does not stock and will not supply this oil so I take my own.

As long as I top up with what the dealer tells me they use, I'm not bothered really. Mind you, I don't plan to be owning the car when the warranty runs out.

where's the option for "supply my own oil but don't trust that the dealer actually uses it"?

I asked the dealer what oil they used and they said Castrol semi-synthetic. Asked if they could supply fully synthetic they said they could not but were happy to use any oil that I provided myself.

On my last service I supplied my own Redline oil. The dealer was interested in why I'd gone for it, and last time I rang (2 months later) about a problem with my Accord they asked me how the S2000 was running on that fancy oil!

They also said they's relay my findings about Redline to any other S2000 owners that asked them about which type of oil to use.

I always worry that the grease monkey nicks my fancy oil and pours in some Halfords crap instead
