Default Singlepipe exhaust tailpipe

I have a 5zigen pro spec 3 singlepipe exhaust (straight cut exit NOT angled), its a bit old now but structurally perfect being made out of stainless steel with an 'inconel' tip. The exhaust doesn't have much drone, its a nice sounding civilised exhaust, whilst being lightweight and adding power - so i don't want to get rid of it really (Having owned previously about 5 exhausts on the S). I also have a single-pipe exhaust cap on my car which compliments the singlepipe.

The problem is the blue'ish/purple'ish burnt look has significantly dulled down over time and no amount of cleaning/polishing will restore it.

A while ago I attempted a DIY and rubbed down the tailpipe and effectively polished the old burnt look off and re-burnt but with limited success (used blow torch etc), the blue look is there, more of it but duller than before .

I like the burnt look, but not a great fan of the slash cut. So the idea would be cut 90% of the end off and either weld on a 'new burnt look slash tailpipe', 'rolled tip burnt tailpipe', plain tailpipe or another design?

Its a shame getting rid of the iconel, but the current looks annoys me, well more of a niggle .

I guess it could be reburnt again - but cant be arsed TBH .

What do you think?, suggestions?

Thanks

A few pictures, not my car but examples.

It it niggles that much, you will eventually be arsed so get it reburned by a pro. Surely a lot less hassle than mixing and matching?

And you keep your inconel.

But if the slash bugs you, then...

Where i live there isn't many pro's. There is one place but even he said that TBH he wasn't sure about re-burning, as he tried it with stainless steel and it was a poor finish.

He said he can weld a tip on no problem, and fabricate but would have to look at ordering a burnt tip in (as he doesn't stock any) and thus weld.

I've got the same exhaust on mine... The tailpipe design is the worst part of what is otherwise an brilliant exhaust.

Modifying it would seem like a crime though!

Maybe try getting it hotter- have you tried oxyacetylene ?

(could be an idea to have a replacement tip on standby!)

I used butane or propane, where can I buy mapp gas? Is mapp gas just in a container. I have bought a proper polishing kit so might get a better finish.

Is the blue effect not gained by heating the tip up and then rapidly cooling it in oil?
